I’ve just bought a Gear4 HouseParty iPod clock radio. I’ve wanted to get an “iPod ready” clock radio for years, but have never found anything that looked nice – finally I have! The Gear4 HouseParty comes in black or white (I got the black one), and looks very sexy indeed. It has a nice blue LED clock display (with three levels of brightness), and includes a slimline remote that can access just about everything on your iPod. It works flawlessly with both my 2nd Gen Nano, and my trusty old 40GB 4th Gen iPod. I’ve got a Tivoli Model One in my kitchen (which I love), but to be completely honest, the Gear4 HouseParty sounds better to me – it has a little more clarity and sweeter top end than the Model One. Although I’ll be mainly using the HouseParty to listen to voice podcasts while I’m falling asleep, it’s nice to know that the sound quality is there for when I want to crank up some sexy bedroom music. I’m so happy with the HouseParty, that I’ve just ordered the tiny little Gear4 PocketParty speakers for when I’m traveling.

I’ve tried lots of portable speakers and most of them have been a huge disapointment – they sound thin and have no bass, some of them even rattle or resonate at high volumes which makes them totally useless. The Saitek My Spkr puts every other portable speaker to shame, it has solid clear bass, and is actually capable of reproducing music at a decent volume. It’s also slim enough to fit under your pillow if you want to listen to music while falling asleep.

Chinese copies of the iPod Touch are slowly starting to appear on the market, and just like the regular iPod clones, some of the iPod Touch clones actually have more features than the original. I’ve had a quick look at some of the better copies, and they include features such as integrated speakers, voice recording, an FM radio, miniSD slot, built in games, and lots more. I can’t comment on the quality, but the price is certainly good.

A friend of mine recently purchased some Sony MDR-EX700SL earphones from Japan for $200+. I thought he was totally crazy for spending that much money on a pair of earphones – until I heard them. As far as earphones go, the Sony MDR-EX700SLs earphones are in a class of their own, life is simply too short to use junk earphones, so I’ve decided to buy some too!
Apple have released the new iPod Touch! It has an interface very similar to the iPhone, an absolutely stunning 3.5 inch widescreen display, WiFi for web browsing, and comes in 8GB and 16GB models. This is the sexiest iPod ever.
