If you’re interested in getting into macro photography, I can totally recommend the Raynox DCR-250 macro lens – of all the lenses and filters that I’ve bought over the years, this is the one that I simply couldn’t live without. It fits just about any camera – I use it on my Fujifilm S9500 and Canon 400D – and it gives superb results, for an incredibly nice price.

I had a Polaroid camera back in the mid eighties, and it was truly a wonderful piece of technology. Thankfully they’re still making them, and the new models are better than ever. The One600 brings back the nostalgia of shooting instant Polaroid photos when you were a kid – it has a super sexy folding design and has a focus free lens that can handle shots as close as three feet. These are the ultimate retro party/vacation camera, if you’ve never had Polaroid photos stuck all over your fridge, then now is the time to start.

Canon looked to the very first Elph for inspiration when designing the PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph, and came up with a quintessential iteration of the icon: slim, clean-lined and fully flat. Inside, the SD1000 Digital Elph looks only to the future: 7.1 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom and advanced DIGIC III ensure top-quality images, while focus is fast and sharp and red-eye is automatically corrected. The large and more colorful LCD screen now has a tough, anti-reflective coating that makes it as durable as it is beautiful.

Film lives! The Lomo fisheye camera has a 180 degree wide-angle view and stunning fisheye barrel distortion, the ability to fire both a hotshoe flash and the built-in flash, a true fisheye viewfinder, and a “full metal jacket” body treatment. These cameras are wonderful, and are a beautiful example of stunning design and functionality. Fall in love with film again!

Macro photography is one of my favorite hobbies, but it’s also very fiddly and takes a lot of time to get just a few nice pictures – especially when you’re trying to photograph insects! I finally got around to buying myself a macro ring flash, which means I can use much faster shutter speeds when chasing insects around the garden. If you’re into macro photography, then these ring flashes are a must have.
